#2: Learning to say no.
I never understood what this meant when my dad said this again and again, and only when I hit 40s...
did I get snippets of his wisdom that comes through my brain.
Ah, perhaps I am slower than I thought, haha!
Learning to say no…isn’t just the word no or the head shaking no. If you look at it, it is about boundaries and focus.
Being unable to say no…would mean that your time, effort and energy may go into something that doesn’t progress you, relax you or add value to the world.
Such as not saying no when you dont really want to do something, but you do it because
you dare not say no to someone
you think you have nothing on anyway, so why not
You’re saying that “yeah you’re right, YOU’RE stuff is more important than mine, so okay.”
No, it’s not okay.
Saying no allows you to focus on what is important to you.
Saying no allows you to say yes to what’s important.
Saying no is disallowing lower priority items to not hijack your schedule, work and creations.
Saying no when it makes sense, makes sense.
Of course saying no when it doesn’t make sense isn’t good.
The key is being appropriate, timely and it aligns with goals.
